I usually write about wine, food, and other fun things in this blog. I try not to get too personal but today is different.
I woke up in the middle of the night and read about the terrible shooting in Thousand Oaks. I turned on the television and saw a father looking for his son who happened to be in the location where the shooting took place. This morning, the father confirmed that his son was one of those killed.
Last night, after I saw that father looking for his son, I went into my son’s room and just stared at him and took it all in. I thanked God he was safe and at home with me. He’s thirteen years old with so much of his life yet to be experienced. When he left for school this morning, I gave him the biggest hug he could bear and told him I loved him.
I’m not one to give life advice to anyone. Today, I’ll make an exception. Give your loved ones a hug and tell them you love them. Give your children a hug and tell them you love them. Sit down tonight, turn off your cell phones, share a meal at the dining room table and BE with your family or loved ones.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this terrible tragedy.
