Snoop Dogg, More Conan Wine Tasting, $24k Champagne, Balloons, and Other Notes on a Wine Card.

Bottle Rock Music Fest took place this past weekend in Napa Valley and Snoop Dogg took the opportunity to set a world record for the largest paradise cocktail by making a gin and juice on stage. The drink contained 180 bottles of gin, 154 bottles of apricot brandy and 38 jugs of orange juice.  The drink came in at 132 gallons!  Gin and Juice was a song on Snoop Dogg’s debut album Doggiestyle that reached #8 on Billboard. Take a listen here Gin and Juice.

Conan O’Brien has released more outtakes of his wine tasting tour of Italy with his producer Jordan Schlansky.  The video is hilarious. Again, if I ever sound like Jordan at The Tasting Room, you are authorized to break a bottle of cheap wine over my head.  Check out the video here Conan and Jordan Wine Tasting

Luxe Epicure has an interesting article on the release of one of the most expensive champagnes ever. To celebrate 20 time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, Moet & Chandon has released a 1998 “Greatness Since 1998” cuvee that will cost approximately $24,000!  The proceeds will go to the Roger Federer Foundation.  There will be only 20 bottles offered to collectors around the world so get your order in asap!  Just in case you’re wondering, the bottle size is a magnum if that makes it more worthwhile.

Did you know?  Not only are famed wine regions such as Burgundy and Champagne producing great wines but they are also protected World Heritage Sites as designated by UNESCO.  The regions include Alto Dourto Portugal, Burgundy France, Champagne France, Langhe-Roero and Monferrato Italy, Lavaux Switzerland, Takaj Hungary, and Upper Middle Rhine Valley Germany.  Check out the article at Wine Enthusiast here Seven Wine World Heritage Sites

Are you into Balloons and Wine?  Then you better head to Temecula this weekend for the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival running June 1 through June 3.  This will be the 35th annual event and will take place at the Lake Skinner Recreation Area in Winchester.  For more information go to Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival

Last week, regular customer Jenny K and I were listening to two other regulars go on and on about rock climbing.  They could have been speaking Greek for all we knew.  Jenny and I just shook our heads on how they were so excited about the exploits of a certain rock climber Alexander Huber, who according to his book is the “World’s Most Extreme Free Ascent Climber.”  Can you believe how people can get so carried away about certain things?  I’m so glad I’m not like that.  Yes, I LOVE wine and Salma Hayek, oh and Eva Longoria, and wine, and Elizabeth Montgomery, oh and did I mention wine?

Here’s the lineup for Thursday and Friday’s wine tasting at The Tasting Room, I’ll call it the Alexander Huber Extreme Wine Tasting:

Alma de Cattleya Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County 2017  $23.99

Hungry Blonde Chardonnay, Carneros 2016  $24.99

Salwey Pinot Noir, Baden Germany 2014   $23.99

Latium Morini Campo Leon Amarone Della Valpolicella 2012   $54.99
Salud!
