As we say goodbye to 2017, I look back and give thanks for the wonderful times I have had throughout the year. It has been a rewarding year for me and I know that I am lucky to be able to meet so many good people who are making tremendous contributions to the wine industry. It has been a pleasure and an honor for me to meet people such as Mac Myers (McPrice Myers), Krisi Raymond (Five Vintners), Laurent Gruet (Gruet Winery), Don Burns (Turtle Rock), John Hilliard (Hilliard Bruce), Greg Brewer (Brewer-Clifton), and Coby Parker-Garcia(El Lugar Wines and Claiborne & Churchill).
These are people who put every ounce of effort into making a wine that they will be proud of and that we will enjoy. Once you taste their wines, you immediately know that the winemaker has a passion for his or her work. There are far too many people in this industry who just go through the motions and cut corners or don’t pay enough attention to detail. It is refreshing to find and meet people such as these who really care about their wine and about you the customer. It is these types of wines – high quality, well made and good value – that I strive to look out for and to bring to your attention.
I look forward to the coming year and to all the new wines I will taste, the new winemakers I will meet, and to connecting once again with the great people I have met in the past several years. I wish you all a happy and peaceful new year and I hope that we will be able to share some wine in the coming months!
