WOW! What a past few days this has been. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse – you know, the whole fire and fury thing – then last weekend happened along with Tuesday’s press conference. In some of my past blogs and newsletters I’ve tried to poke fun at the absurdity of it all. I am flabbergasted! This time I’ll leave it to the Stephen Colberts, the Jimmy Kimmels and the Seth Meyers of the world to point out the idiocy and stupidity that we all have been witnessing. I will say this – my parents taught me and instilled in me that racism, bigotry, and hate should not be tolerated in our American society. I have passed that onto my son and I hope that he will grow up and live in this great country of ours led by a person of integrity, compassion, and honor – and not by a leader who defends hate, racism, bigotry, and evil.
How do we reduce the stress levels that surely have been rising since January of this year? Well, some people take to exercise, some to meditation, and others turn to entertainment such as the movies. Let me think here – hmmmmmm I think there’s another way to relieve stress – oh yes! Wine! (get your mind out of the gutter but that’s a good way too!) There have been numerous studies over the years that have concluded that wine – red wine in particular – can be beneficial to your health and well being. Of course, drinking wine in moderation is the key word here. Not only does wine help with reducing stress levels since wine acts as a sedative but it also is beneficial in promoting health and longevity. Other studies have shown that wine can be beneficial in reducing the risks of heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and colon cancer. Last but not least, wine has fewer carbs than beer for those watching their weight.
So next time you raise a glass of wine, toast to your health and your friends with the knowledge that you are actually improving your health and well-being! All in moderation of course!
P.S. Laughter is good for the stress levels too…..here’s a couple of comments from our Late Night Hosts……
Commenting on the Donald saying “I own actually one of the largest wineries in the United States. It’s in Charlottesville.”
Colbert: “It is not one of the biggest wineries in the United States, though he is one of the biggest whiners in the United States.”
Corden: “For someone who doesn’t want to make a statement before he has all the facts, maybe he should have looked at that winery’s website. Because this is what it actually says: ‘The winery is not owned, managed or affiliated with Donald J. Trump, the Trump Organization or any of their affiliates.’ So the winery may not be his, but at least now we know where he gets all his sour grapes.”
